One of the key obstacles faced by municipalities is their limited ability to profit from the discrepancy between the Eskom rate and a potential green solar tariff. While this may pose a challenge for municipalities to directly benefit financially, there is a significant interest in providing their communities with access to environmentally friendly solar power at a more competitive tariff. MuniFlex recognizes the importance of addressing this need and offers a solution that focuses on the greater goal of facilitating the adoption of renewable energy within municipalities.
Our model is centered around a Private Public Cooperation framework, ensuring the active involvement of both the municipality and customers. Through a pre-payment system, customers have the opportunity to contribute directly to a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that oversees the renewable energy initiatives. In this model, the municipality assumes a passive shareholder role, enabling greater cooperation between the public and private sectors while reducing the financial burden on the municipality itself. By embracing this collaborative approach, MuniFlex fosters a more efficient and effective way to deliver green solar power to municipalities.
We have witnessed significant interest from various municipalities who recognize the potential of MuniFlex. These municipalities understand the importance of offering their communities access to renewable energy sources at a more affordable tariff, aligning with their sustainability goals and reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuel-based power. By partnering with us through the Private Public Cooperation model, municipalities can unlock the benefits of MuniFlex and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
